The Edgecliff Prep boys, staff and parents recently welcomed James Castrission, an Australian explorer, who presented on the theme of resilience.
He discussed how resilience played such an important part in his two successful expeditions, and subsequent world records, of kayaking across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand, and skiing from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole and back unaided. There were four key takeaways on which we may all reflect:
- INTEREST – find something that fascinates you.
- PURPOSE – understand how your actions contribute to the wellbeing of others.
- PRACTICE – get a little better every day.
- HOPE – keep going when faced with setbacks, failures, and obstacles.
