Deng Adut speaks at a combined House Meeting

At the combined House Meeting on Wednesday June 6, the guest speaker was Deng Adut. Mr Adut is a lawyer and refugee advocate, based in Western Sydney, and was a refugee himself.

Originally from Sudan, he was a child soldier from an early age and spent time in Ethiopia and at a refugee camp in Kenya, arriving in Australia during his teenage years. He shared his amazing journey of survival and resilience and addressed many social justice issues. The boys were mesmerised by his passionate presentation and had the opportunity to give a voluntary donation to his charity, the John Mac Foundation,  which works to educate and empower refugees and people whose lives have been interrupted by war.
