On Tuesday 13 November (Week 5) we are having a P-6 Family Picnic with Buddies from 12.35-1.25pm to end our Buddies Programme for the year. This is an ideal opportunity for our boys to have lunch with their Buddy and their family.

We would like as many parents as possible to join us on this special occasion. Please meet your son and his Buddy at the location marked on the School Map

Please bring your own lunch and picnic rug for your family. Owing to a number of allergies across the School, we cannot share food with other boys and their families. At 1.25pm, the older boys will take their Buddy to their playground to play.

We are excited to welcome Catherine Greer (Sydney Grammar School parent), author of Jacaranda Snow to both the Year 3-6 Assembly at 10.00am and the P-2 Assembly at 2.00pm next Friday November 16.

We invite parents to come along to join us to hear Catherine talk about the book, the history of Jacaranda trees and the inspiration for her book.

Young award–winning composer, Alexander Lau has created a beautiful classical composition titled Jacaranda Snow. You will be able to hear the debut performance of Jacaranda Snow in our Assembly at 10.00am next Friday. Alexander is a Form VI College Street student who has just completed his HSC and we are sure he will inspire all our musicians at St Ives as he was St Ives Prep student! Alexander will perform the piece with three other Form VI College Street boys.

Catherine and the boys will share a morning tea with us in the foyer after Assembly and they would be delighted to join our school community to chat about the book and the composition.

Boys are enjoying another busy term, borrowing widely and enjoying many new books. We look forward to you visiting our Library to have fun searching for new books to enjoy with your son.

Congratulations to the Year 5 boys involved in the House Debating Competition last week. They debated with confidence, strong team spirit, good rebuttal and well-structured arguments. Their commitment and enthusiasm in early morning coaching sessions each week was evident in the skills we saw this week. Dent, Francis and Healey Houses all shared first place.

In Week 2, the Year 6 House Debaters impressed us with their higher order thinking, teamwork and their confident deliveries. We thank the boys who fulfilled the roles of chairpersons and timekeepers. It was a delight to witness how far the boys have come and the ever-growing skills they have developed. Healey were the outright winners for 2018. We thank our adjudicators Mr Audas and Ms Cavanaugh who gave the boys constructive feedback to work on next year.

Please note that Monday morning debating coaching has now finished for the year.
