On Wednesday, 3 September, Year 4 enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Maritime Museum.
A highlight of the day was stepping aboard the replica of Captain Cook’s ship, the Endeavour. The boys were fascinated to learn how sailors navigated across the seas during the Age of Exploration, using stars, maps, and instruments that are very different from the technology we rely on today.
Our guides were particularly impressed by the boys’ outstanding knowledge, thoughtful questions, and excellent manners throughout the visit. It was a wonderful opportunity for the boys to bring history to life by relating what they have learnt during History lessons and reading the book Captain Cook’s Apprentice. Year 4 left the Museum with a deeper appreciation of the challenges and achievements of early explorers.
