Professor Richard Buckland from the University of New South Wales gave a thought-provoking speech during Assembly.
He discussed the nature of cybersecurity in today’s world and the ways in which to protect yourself in this ever-evolving space. The “attacker mindset” was a key idea in his speech. He used the example of his own university students to demonstrate the need to adopt the viewpoint of a hacker to identify security weaknesses. Professor Buckland also touched on the topic of internet safety: how we should avoid clicking on all unknown links - not just the suspicious ones. Overall, it was both an informative and entertaining talk.
