Being a Grammar Boy

Our School Code, Carrington’s Code, provides a strong moral platform for the School.

Carrington’s Code is present throughout our Preschool to Year 6 Curriculum and it is the foundation of our weekly Pastoral Care programme, which is framed to address pastoral care in context.  Period 8 on Tuesdays are set aside to ensure that these programmes can remain a priority and are run consistently throughout the year.

Two of our student-centred programmes are Peer Support and Buddies.

In Peer Support, Year 6 boys develop their leadership skills whilst leading cross-grade lessons that reinforce the pillars of Carrington’s Code; Respect, Courage, Integrity, Empathy and Initiative.  Placing students at the centre of this learning, empowers them with practical skills and strategies to positively navigate life and relationships.

Our long-standing Buddies programme is designed to develop our boys as positive role-models for others.  Boys in younger years, work with the older boys across the School within the programme to promote a positive social network.  Along with this comes a sense of community and belonging that ties positive feelings to the relationships formed from respectful role modelling.
