Ascham School visit

On Friday 7 March, thirteen Form V and VI boys attended Ascham’s 2026 International Women’s Day Lunch.

The event opened with talks from two guest speakers: Dilini De Silva, a social worker specialising in domestic‑violence support, and Emily Sacks, a former Ascham pupil now working as a NASA space engineer.

Dilini De Silva spoke about her work protecting women from domestic violence and her early activism, including a high‑school project highlighting the treatment of asylum seekers.

Emily Sacks shared her journey from a STEM‑enthusiastic schoolgirl to an engineer in a traditionally male‑dominated field, encouraging pupils to explore new opportunities and remain true to themselves.

The excursion was a valuable and eye‑opening experience, offering the boys the chance to meet pupils from other schools and reflect together on the inspiring presentations.
